It’s been well over a year since our last post about the VC Net App under development. With everything that is happening in the world these days the Vampire Club is still working hard to support a worldwide community of vampires. At the core of the development team there is METAL and Gavin. With only 24 hours in the day split between these two, we can only do so much to complete production while we split our time with support. However, good news is we have had for past couple years increased production from our Virtual Agents specializing in Virtual Assistance like BeccasBiz.

What are we doing today? VC Net App is being revisited as a viable way to connect all of the entities together that make up VC. Right now our services are spread around to help facilitate the various regions of our support. How are we going to unite these services? With our growing database of members from around the world we face the challenge of organizing and keeping those members happy.

VC Net is and will connect all of our user databases into a secure master account system that is spread out and redundantly backed up by our worldwide servers. VC Net will also work with existing open source technologies to connect those accounts securely and privately mirroring our own internal account system. It is the goal of VC Net App to eventually have a sign-in once everywhere platform. Combining other 3rd party secure free services with VC Net App accounts will maximize the resourcefulness of VC Net bringing all kinds of services that our members will use and not scare away from.

The term ‘app’ has become quite negative with how they are used on some of these social networking sites merely because most of those apps are games. VC Net does not shy away from nor want to distract our members with too many apps especially games. We will find a balance across the VC Continuum if we can.

Forever’s Industries in association with Vampire Club Studios presents: VC Net, the definitive web application for use by the Global Vampire Club Community. Created by Gavin McCall with supervision by Markus Daimeion, and a body of testers from various companies down to individuals for beta testing. Testing of the network application will begin at the beginning of Winter 2009. There is no official sign-up for the test as members of the Vampire Club have already been included and notified of their participation.

What will VC Net do? Better yet, what has it already done? VC Net represents a network of ideas that started off with asking the simple question, “What do we do with the World Wide Web?” If you’re at all familiar with the bulletin boards of old, then you’ll know its not a very popular topic when it comes to how it was used, but today bulletin boards are different and no longer require you to dial them up and wait long hours for a megabyte worth of information. Now bulletin boards are a major part of how people interact an share themselves. Most community web sites exist as some sort of bulletin board where the members of the community can interface with other members and the leaders of their community. VC Net appears on the scene as a way to bridge the many vastly different aspects of the Vampire Club Community and bring them together using one service.

How does the service work? VC Net comes with registration as a VC Member. Once you are in, you get a special key that represents your friendship with the club. If you are a computer type and someone with a website, you can potentially use your key to put a VC Net icon somewhere on your site that shows your affiliation. All VC Net icons are restricted to registered members. Once you are in VC Net and connected to it online, you can access through your own website the Vampire Club website. You will even be able to access your Blood (VC Community Bulletin Board) account and other materials and participate in community events.

The power of VC Net App is connecting with VC members more directly, disseminating information to the entire network with relative ease, better version control, easier upgrades, and more.

What makes this different from other social networking sites?

VC Net holds true a core philosophy of being very cool and very classy. Internally, the Vampire Club looks out for the best interest of the whole group. Due to the fact that we have so many wonderfully dedicated volunteer staff members, the Vampire Club is capable of keeping a high quality of media and interaction between its members.

How does it all work?

If we told ya, then that would take all the fun out of it. We use all of the standard Web 2.0 technologies, mostly developed by open source communities mixed with our own closed source packages.

What exactly does it do again?

VC Net in its primal infancy on the web was known as VC Chat. It was a communication device that used encryption and allowed two VC members to connect have secure communication. VC Chat was dropped before the file transfer system was fully tweaked to perfection, but it did have a short span of use that is quite cute to say the least. VC Chat’s source code was written in Visual Basic.

Better yet, what is it going to do?

VC Net will do everything you expect it to do and expect it not to do. It won’t make you breakfast or do your homework, but it will definitely make your use of the World Wide Web a little more sane. If you’re tired of the blogs and the bookmarking sites and all of the rehashing of old ideas into new cute ephemeral user generated data mush sites then you’re going to find a peaceful home in the Vampire Club Network.
